My right foot has been twitching for about a year....I have been to every doctor, including neurologist, chiropractor, acupuncture, and podiatrists.....No one can find anything wrong!! I have had an EMG, Mri, X-rays, still nothing.....My nerves are fine, but my chiropractor thinks my bone may be leaning on a ligament that is now damaged because it's been so long.....Of course, the chiropractor has you goingall the time, spending tons of money, and still no results.....Any ideas?????? I'm going crazy!!
Thanks....Alex

If your have a bone alignment issue you might want try an over the counter ankle brace try one that is adjustable with solid sapport. If the brace works it should happen quite quickly 1-2 days.

It their any that you have done that was the possible cause or that would change your symptoms.

Thank you, I will definitely give this a try!

Dear Alex
Foot twitching can be caused secondary to hypocalcemia/electrolyte imbalance, sports or occupational injury, various types of medications, damage to a single or multiple nerves, neuromuscular disorders such as Parkinson's or even multiple sclerosis. Have all of these options been explored??? It sounds like you have gone through extensive testing, the other possiblity is idiopathic, meaning the etiology is unknown. Has a nerve biopsy been performed?

No, I haven't had a nerve biopsy, all the doctors seem pretty convinced it's not the nerves......I have been a runner all my life, some years running 10 miles a day......They think the running had a definite effect on this, now the chiropractor thinks it may be in my neck......I have gone for 10 visits with no positive results.....I'm at the end of my rope, my podiatrist said I just might have to live with it! Wonderful!!
Thanks so much for writing me back!

Dear Alex
Running definately causes microtrauma to multiple joints of the body. Nerve biopsy does sound extreme however, it is performed if necessary. Does the twitching usually occur at night? Have the doctors ruled out restless leg syndrome?

The twitching occurs when I go to relax or sleep.....During the day, I can feel it sometimes, but it is consistent when I relax.....It's funny you mention RLS, I told the doctors that it was exactly like RLS, but occurs in my foot....It's usually in my last 3 toes....
