Is the warmth of your feet even? Are your archs the same from foot to foot? Are your archs high or low? Is your body weight good? Are your shoe the correct size? Do you tie your laces tight? Do your shoe absorb shock?

Their are many things that could cause pain, from diabeties to a heart condition to a foot problem. Sometime feet are the canary in the coal mine, they show symptoms that can't be ignored first.

When you lift your toes and front of foot up, does the pain corispond to any tendon atachment sight?

All in All if the pain is so bad that you cannot sleep that is a problem that should be checked out.

Any pain that is dehabilitating that prevents a normal activity like sleeping should be checked out by a proffessional.

Get well soon

Dear Carl
Foot pain which occurs at night can be due to a number of reasons, such as peripheral neuropathy, restless leg syndrome, aterial insufficiency, electrolyte imbalance or other medical issues. However, in order to come to an appropriate diagnosis and treatment course, you will need to see a doctor, for a thorough evaluation.

I have the same pain. I massage the front muscles of my leg. Peroneus longus and Tibialis anterior are the muscles I massage. That helped me alot. And Im going to see a doc to day.
Good luck!

Take a look at the way you walk are you heavy on your heels. Overly long stride can also be a problem. Try to walk smoother with less impact on your feet.

Some times pain can be from the way you walk.

hope this helps

I have intermittent pain on the top of my foot, it feels like a hot foot.com and lasts only a minute or so. Extremely painful, not painful to the touch and no signs of injury or inflamation. Several years ago I had a nueroma and ended up having surgery, the pain associated with that was constant.

Any ideas what this may be?

Dear Margie
I would recommend that you follow-up with your podiatrist to see if the pain may be related to a nerve impingement or compression.
