I had surgery for an inguinal hernia about a week and a half ago (right side of my body).
The first few days after recovering, I noticed some discomfort in both of my feet in the toe area. Seemed like my big toes and the first couple of smaller toes next to the big toes felt a little numb.
I attributed this to the Vicodin I was taking at the time.
However, as the week wore on, I noticed that I was still feeling the numbness in my big toe on my left foot but not really any toes on my right foot.
I thought if I didn't take any more of the Vicodin it would go away. But then I still had the numbness Saturday morning even though the last Vicodin I took was Friday morning.
Then last night, I had a beer and a couple of Jack and Cokes. I know alcohol tends to constrict blood vessels. Well, I noticed the numbness in my big toe (left foot) seemed to get more pronounced and there were a few times it even felt slightly uncomfortable to step with that foot because of the big toe. No numbness in any other toes (left or right foot), just in the big toe on my left foot.
The numbness isn't at the end of the toe. It is where it connects with the rest of the foot and extends into the area between the big toe and the next toe.
Is this something that can have been caused by the hernia surgery? Any idea what might be causing the continued numbness of my left big toe?
