[size=5]Hi There, I have a Ganglion Cyst on the top of my left foot the size of a pea. The size is up and down. I have had the cyst for about a year now. I now have noticed for about two weeks now that my big left toe and the one next to it has some numbness. Could this be the cyst causing the numbness?? Could it be pressing on a nerve or something. I have an appointment with Beth Israel Deaconness Podiatry Clinic in Boston. I am really scared as to what they are gonna do. Will they have to operate?? Will I be on crutches or will they just bandage it tight so that it will go away. Can you please tell me something about this.

Dear Patricia
Technically a ganglion can result in numbness if it is impinging on a nerve, it all depends on its location. Usually x-rays are taken, possibly an MRI, an aspiration may be performed and if the ganglion persists, it is typically surgically removed in an operating room.
