At 3:00 am this morning, I got a stinging sensation on the right side of my big toe on my right foot. It felt like a bug or spider bite. This sensation continued to happen every 30 seconds for 1 1/2 hours. I tried different sleeping positions, elevating my foot and walking around. When I walked around I would get a mild stiffness or cramping in my calf. Finally at 4:30 am, I took one aspirin. This sensation stopped and I fell asleep in about 40 minutes. What would be the cause? Thanks, KathyJo

Dear Kathyjo
Are you still having "stinging sensations" to your toe or has the pain completely resolved? Have you inspected your toe, did you check for any bug bites? Has the pain completely resolved? A "stinging sensation" may be due to a number of things such as, an actual bug bite, neurological component or a transient condition. If you are still experiencing the problem follow-up with your podiatrist or medical doctor.

Good-luck and thank-you for contacting foot.com,
