I am having foot spasms on the top middle of my right foot and find that it makes sleeping very difficult...Why would this be happening?

Dear Barb
Foot spasms are sometimes due to muscle fatigue, heavy exercise, dehydration, pregnancy, medication, hypothyroidism, depletion of magnesium or calcium, kidney disorder or alcoholism. I would recommend that you follow-up with your medical doctor to find out the exact cause of your muscle spasm.

Barb, I have had the same thing for a year now!! I've had MRI'S, EMG'S, cortisone shots, nothing has helped.....My doctor thinks I may have tarsal Tunnel Syndrome, he wants to operate......I'm gonna try acupuncture, I'll let you know how it goes!!!

Dear Maureen
Have you tried physical therapy, padding, strapping, bracing, orthotics and/or changing shoe gear? These are alternatives that you may want to explore prior to surgery.
