I run marathons and have been running for years. Recently while training for my next marathon, I got new shoes. They were fine for the first 4 weeks of running until one day I felt like I tied my shoe too tight, but I ran with it like that anyway. The next day I developed a pain on the top of my left foot, under the second to last lace hole on the right side( about 1-2/3 to 2 inches below my big toe). I laced my shoes differently and have been running like that for about 3 weeks, however the pain is not decreasing. It doesn't hurt to push on it and I can hop on that leg with no pain. It hurts the most running and the few days after. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Dear Wendy
You may have aggrevated the tendon that attaches to the big toe with the shoe lace and developped a tendonitis. I would probably suggest that you go to see a podiatrist for an evaluation and to bring your shoes in with you. Since the pain has not improved and is persistent I would not delay this appointment.

Good-luck and thank-you for contacting foot.com,
