Hi All:

I have a quick question. I twisted my ankle while playing basketball and ended up with a fracture. Doc has given me an Aircast S P Walker to wear and advised me to wear it all the time. I am not sure whether I should wear it even when I go to bed? As some of you may know, the S P Walker is kind of bulky and it hurts if I try to sleep on my side or something. I am worried I should not cause more harm than good if I wear the shoe while I am sleeping!

Any advice / suggestion will be appreciated.

Thank you.
mousumi.

I personally wouldn't wear anything like that to bed, it might cut off circulation to your foot. Hope this helps.

If you decide to sleep with it on, try sleeping on your back, with your ankle on a pillow.

Dear cmousumi
I would recommend that you ask this question to your doctor. Every doctor you ask may have a different opinion, however it is your doctor who is familiar with your case who can best determine when and how long to wear the brace. It depends on the patient, their condition and on the doctor.
