I AM 58 YRS. OLD AND WAS RECENTLY DIAGNOSED WITH MORTONS NUROMA. HAD THE DR. TRY THE INJECTIONS DIRECTLY INTO THE AREAS IN QUESTION. NOW I AM FACED WITH ANOTHER TYPE OF PAIN IN BOTH OF MY FEET. THE TOPS OF MY FEET ARE IN CONSTANT PAIN LIKE SOMEONE STEPPED ON THEM. FEELS LIKE THE BONES ARE BROKEN. WHEN MY HUSBAND RUBS MY FEET THE PAIN IS SOMETIMES UNBAREABLE. I HAVE HAD EXRAYS AND THE DR. SAYS THEY LOOK FINE. SO WHY THE PAIN? IT DOES'NT MATTER WHAT KIND OF SHOES I WARE EITHER. THE PAIN IS ALWAYS THERE. I EAT LOW FAT AND LOTS OF FRUIT, WORK OUT EVERY DAY, AEROBICS AND KEEP MY WEIGHT IN CHECK. I EAT VERY LITTLE SWEETS IF ANY AND VERY LITTLE RED MEAT OR PROCESSED FOODS. SO WHAT'S THE DEAL??? PLEASE GIVE ME AN IDEA, PLEASE!!!

How long ago were the injections? I am not familliar with all the complications from shots. I have seen feet after they have been treated and not relieved.

I am glad that you are eating well and exercising. Un fortunatly you have left out an important thing to your foot health. Your shoes and what are your foot relaited activities.

Eating right means that you are less prone to gout. Foot pain can also be from low back problems or from chemo therapy.

I would recomend a thick sole rocker bottom shoe with some sort of shock absorbtion property with plenty of toe room. make sure someone sizes your feet.

Try to figure out what make your symtoms change better or worse.

Hope this helps.

Dear Linda
Unfortunately, a Morton's neuroma can some times be quite a challege to overcome. As a physician, I usually recommend decreasing activity, anti-inflammatory medication, injection therapy, physical therapy, orthotics and shoe modification (a rockerbottom sole can be beneficial). Your podiatric physician would be the one to implement these treatment options. I do find that sometimes when a patient complains of pain, the pain may also radiate to a different spot. This may be due to a number of reasons and quite often secondary to compensation.

Good-luck and thank-you for contacting foot.com,
