I am hoping someone out there can lead me in the right direction.

Here is the story:

On New Years Eve, Neil heard a pop in his right thigh while watching TV in bed. He felt the pain and rolled/slammed his right foot into the wall. Sunday morning(new years day) he said his foot was in a lot of pain. I didn't believe him. Monday morning it still hurt, he saw one of the doctors that was on call. At that appointment, the Dr said his foot was cooler than the other foot, little range of motion, no swelling, felt a slight pulse. Said if it isn't better by Wednesday come back.
Wednesday--Saw another doctor--said foot was very cold, no pulse, has feeling when someone/thing touches the foot. Has no clue what is causing the pain, the coldness, or why he can't move the foot. Most pain is on the sole of his foot and the toes. He calls YALE and we go there for many hours on Wednesday night. That night Neil saw many doctors, but they don't know what is going on either. They found a pulse, by Doppler which was as strong as his other pulses. They said it wasn't a blood clot or a pinched nerve. X-Rays showed nothing broken. They released him and said to make a follow up visit with his reg. doctor.
Friday--His reg. doctor---did another examine, but still couldn't find the problem. He called a neurologist and she said the symptoms don't seem to fit her field.
At this point we are waiting for a call from the Care Clinic at YALE to make an appointment.
Last night Neil took a bath and the water was burning the foot. I called the doctor and he said that was normal, because the foot is very cold. Also, last night I noticed that the coldness is going up his leg.

So, if anyone has any information on what I should do, PLEASE e-mail.
Please pass this e-mail along to anyone you might know that can help us.

Dear Sue
Usually when I hear that a foot is cold and the patient has nonpalpable pulses it sets off alarms especially in the diabetic patient. I would recommend that Neil go for a second opinion as soon as possible, it sounds like his vascular and neurological status may be comprimised and should be checked. Also has he seen a Podiatrist? Unfortunately, on-line inquiries are extremely limited in terms of dispensing information. The only way to get a proper diagnosis is to get evaluated in person.

Good-luck and thank-you for contacting foot.com,
