There is another website that discusses heel pain called heelspurs.com and almost everyone that has chatted about the plantar fascia surgery there says DON'T DO IT!

There is another thread that I believe ties in with this one.
http://www.foot.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=488I have been diagnosed with plantar fascia (name for heel spurs?) recently and just been surfing & researching with what to do.
I have a hi arch and I imagine that has been the problem wearing shoes without proper support for both the heel, arch and thusly creating this disorder.
I am also seeking alternative methods. Should go do my exercises...

Dear Tina
Surgery should always be approached with caution. In fact I usually recommend that my patients exhaust all conservative treatments prior to deciding on having surgery performed. Keep in mind that there are different types of surgeries for heel pain, these days resecting bone has fallen out of favor.
Good-luck and thank-you for contacting foot.com,
