What are your thoughts on foot reflexology treatments? are there really points on the feet that when properly triggered with massage and pressure, can alleviate various bodily conditions? Is such therapy recommended occasionally, or are there any drawbacks to it?

Dear Guest
Unfortunately, I do not know too much about reflexology. Sorry, I can't help you with that answer. But I will try to find out for you.
Good-luck and thank-you for contacting foot.com

There is no cerdible scientiific evidence to support the contention that there are points on the foot that are triggered by pressure which can affect different organ systems. What reflexologists have done is to take a map of the brain (which shows what parts of the brain correspond to sensorary innervation of body parts) and reverse it. This ridiculously implies that your feet are "brain-like" and can control other organs.
The best thing that can be said of foot reflexology is that it feels good, and can be an effective form of physical therapy.

There is no credible medical evidence for many of the healthcare modalities we take for granted every day. You need lots of money to do research to get "credible medical evidence" which unfortunately individual practitioners usually do not have access to.
I have referred many patients to a reflexologist for "diagnosis" and "treatment" using herbal remedies based on what is found from these organ points on the feet. I am fascinated at how effective this particular practitioner is.
My suggestion is try it and if you have success, great, if not, no harm done as it is safe and relatively inexpensive.
