For most of a year my heel on R foot has been numb. I mentioned it to Dr (rather PA) while there for something else, and was brushed off. I also have extreme pain now when getting out of bed, and after reading your "sight" have figured that is Achelles tendonitus. I plan on going to Dr. but.. would like to know if this numbing is also part of this. I've always had high arches- I am 50 YO and work out regulary at gym. In case I get brushed off again, I'd like to have some type of information to help me get Dr to send me to the best care neeeded. Thanks, R

Dear Roni
Achilles tendonitis often presents itself with pain and swelling to the back of the heel, right where the achilles tendon inserts itself. Numbness, is not commonly associated with achilles tondonitis with the patients that I have encountered. However, numbness may result if the area is swollen or if there is a compression of the nerve along the tarsal tunnel.
