I have had the symptoms of planter fasciitis for a few years. Except my feet hurt worse as the day went on. I tried all the usual treaments; orthotics, stretching, night splints, physical therapy.... Changing doctors - more orthotics and finally changed to a physician who felt this could be taken care of with a proceedure called a gastroc-slide. (cut the tendon and let it re-attach - releaving the pressure). I had it done on both legs. It didn't work and now the pain is getting worse in my toe joints as well as my arch. I believe I am compensating for some pain and causing something else. It gets so bad my feet feel numb and I have to take my shoes off. Does anyone have ANY idea.

Dear CJMan
It sounds like you have been through quite a bit. I would recommend that you see a Podiatrist who specializes in biomechanics. There are new modiaties such as an FScan/Dart Fish which is being used to recognize abnormal weight bearing patterns and gait patterns. Maybe going back to basics such as analyzing your gait pattern may be another perspective to investigate and see if anything can be done from that stand point.
Good-luck and thank-you for contacting foot.com,
