Hello,
I went to my podiatrist again for another cortisone shot. He was explaining to me that there are a shortage of cortisone medications on the market. He said less than 10 years ago there were over 10 different ones (some better and some with more side effects) he said various drug makers stoped producing a very popular and effective cortisone injection and there now are only several to choose from. I was wondering why drug makers would stop making very needed medications?

Do drug companies not undertand that when you are in pain you want the very best cortisone medication out there? What are podiatrist supposed to do about this?

I am just a concerned person who just wants the best possible care and the best possible medication out there. What are we to do???? unsure.gif

Dear Mary,
Unfortunately I am not a involved in the drug production industry, but I am a practicing Podiatrist. I personally have used and continue to use either a long or short acting steroid that is either soluble or insoluble. Both of which are available on the market and depending on the intended use and its combination can be quite potent and effective.

Good-luck and thank-you for contacting foot.com,
