I FRACTURED MY 3RD METATARSAL BONE LAST WEEK & AM STILL IN PAIN...I CAN'T BEND MY TOES YET OR APPLY ANY WEIGHT BEARING PRESSURE...THE DOCTOR GAVE ME A BOOT WHICH I USE WHILE WALKING BUT IT SEEMS TO AGGRAVATE THE CONDITION...HAS ANYONE SHARED THE SAME EXPERIENCE?

Dear Jill
The treatment of a fractured metatarsal usually involves some form of immobilization, either a below the knee fiberglass cast or a removable Cam walker.
It does take time to get used to the Cam walker, due to its weight and bulkiness. Make sure you heel fits back against the heel part of the boot and the straps are fastened appropriately. You should also decrease you activity and elevate the injured foot. If you are still experiencing increased pain and swelling go back to your doctor for a re-evaluation.
Good-luck and thank-you for contacting foot.com,
