Hi, can anyone explain why after about 10-20 minutes of running the soles of my feet start becoming numb. I am a fit 26yr old and i have recently been fitted for a good pair of running shoes, which apart from the numb feet are excellent.
Once i finish my jog the feeling starts to return and within 5 minutes my feet are back to normal.
any help would be much appreciated.

When you were fit for your running shoes did they measure the length and width of your foot? Also, have you considered wearing an orthotic which will offer greater support? If you do have orthotics make sure you take them with you when you are fit for your running shoe.

Have you had this problem in the past? Definately sounds shoe related to me. I remember when I wore shoes with my orthotics the entire inside area of my foot would go numb after a bit...it turned out there just wasn't enough space in the shoe for my foot AND the orthotic. Once I changed shoes I never encountered the problem again. I would go back to where you bought them (assuming they are knowledgeable), explain your situation and have them take a look. If there aren't many miles on the shoes you may be able to exhange them. Ask about their policy. If you do not wear orthotics currently I would leave that as a last resort (esp if this is a new problem) and see if shoes alone will fix it. Good luck! smile.gif
