I would recommend a shoe with a good arch support. If a running shoe is permitted at work, I would suggest the New Balance 1221, its lastest version on the market for the "flatfooted" or "overpronator". New Balance also has an older model that also offers some support, the 991. In terms of other dreesier, business type shoes, I would recommend mephesto shoes, they are pricey, but well constructed and will offer excellent support.
Good-luck

Kimberly,
I also have the foot problem you sound like me. I was a grocery cashier when I started getting this though and I cannot stand for very long and have not been able to return to that work. I did just get some NAOT clogs and they have a very good arch suppport. Clogs are about all I can wear as I have trouble with an enclosed shoe. The NAOT shoes can also be worn with a shoe insert made for you special.
My POD carrries these in his business for diabetics also and I bought mine at a shoe repair store. DO a Search for the name NAOT and they come in the international sizes like Biernstocks( Spelling?) I wear a size 40.
Good luck!

I know how u feel too. I have worked in retail for many years on my feet and they just killed me. The pain begins to get better (or u just get used to it). I have posted before, but I like to soak my feet in a nice relaxing bath w/soaking salts and stuff. I have used a product called the Personal Pumi Bar to remove my calluses (that will eventually develop on your feet if you don't have any already). U can buy it on line so you don't have to worry about finding it in the UK. Go to www.teregen.com and click on Personal Pumi Bar -Consumer. I got my first one at my podiatrist and now I just by directly for more. It really helps my sore feet. Hope it helps.
