Gout is often related to the inability for the body to process uric acid. Uric acid levels can become elevated by eating alot of purine-rich foods such as meats, or you body may just produce too much uric acid, or if your kidneys do not eliminate the excess uric acid. Make some changes in your diet, such as avoiding a purine-rich foods like meats, drink plenty of fluids, decrease alcohol consumption, and consider loosing weight. Medications for gout include anti-inflammatory drugs , colchicine, corticosteroids, adrenocorticotropic hormone, allopurinol, probenecid, and sulfinpyrazone.
