Dear Susan
Peripheral neuropathy results in numbness, tingling, burning and pain. Patients extent of neuropathy varies and can only be evaluated by their doctor. Peripheral neuropathy would impair someone's ability to drive because it may impair one's ability to feel their extremity (depending on the extent of their neuropathy).
