Hello:

I stubbed my Right foot's 2nd toe from the right 4 months ago. The toe went black and blue for 2 weeks. I did not do anything untill 2 months later I went to a medi centre and had my foot exrayed. They found no break and told me it should get better with time. It is now 4 months after I stubbed my toe and I still feel the pain. It hurts if I run and also when I do nothing. The pain has not really gotten better since the first week this happened. The pain is not on the toe, but inside. It feels like it is maybe where two bones may connect in the toe about 4 inches back from the end of my toe. I wonder if maybe I did brreak it and they didn't find it? Anybody with any advice?

It is most realistic that you did not fracture your toe. Most fractures will appear within 2 weeks of injury and you stated that you had x-rays after 2 months of injury. However, there could be a possibility of a stress fracture which may occur from overuse and repetitive activities, such as running. I would suggest that you make an appointment with your podiatrist to rule out a stress fracture. If the x-rays are still negative then perhaps you should try changing your shoe gear or you may need to try a course of physical therapy to help reduce the pain. Good luck.
