I have a foot disease called Mortons Nuroma, which is a very painfull condition. The nerve tissue between the first and second toe gets calused and you lose some feeling in it, while it also gets very sensitive. I would like to get an operation to help, but I would like to get some feedback from people who have had the operation to see if it works, or helps. Please reply! biggrin.gif

Have you tried injection therapy or an orthotic with a neuroma pad? Try these conservative options prior to surgery. Surgery is usually successful however, numbness is usually one of the most common complications following the procedure. There are other complications and you should be well informed prior to surgery. Talk to your Podiatrist.

Good luck,

I recently had the surgery and am three months post op....my foot is healing well and while I still get some pain it is not like it was before....i would suggest the surgery if the shots don't help...which was the case with me....

Have Morton Nuromas in both feet. Has anyone ever had both feet operated on at the same time? Just curious. I want to get back to running and want to save on recovery time.

If have morton nuroma, what if the cause? Tight shoe can be factor. What is your running distance? Middle distence run (5-7 mile) it is recomended to increase your shoe one full size to alow foe swelling. High heels, point toes can also be a factor.

The mechanics of your foot will need to be addressed surgery or not possibly more so after surgery. Do you overpronate, have morton's toe or fore foot varus?

Comon symtoms of Morton's nuroma is a that starts in the all and sparks out to the toe also numbness to the toe. Most comon toes affected are 3rd-4th then 2nd-3rd , 1st-2nd and 4th-5th are about even.

Comon test squeese the ball the foot ( like a firm hand shake ) and extend the toes this could recreat the symtoms along with a painful crunch. If that happens it is a possitive sign other wise it is inconclusive you couldstill have a nuroma without a positive test.

All in all surgery can make things worse it is not perfect. Rest is sometimes what you need.
