I had surgery to clean out the arthritis from gout and rheumatoid in my great left toe in 1993. The joint came apart and had to be pinned in 1996. I began having Morton's neuroma about 4 years ago. It got so bad recently that I could not stand it and it was so swollen. The bone was sticking out beneath my second toe. I had grown extra bone to make up for the stress. The nerve was wrapped around it. The surgeon went in and removed the extra bone and removed the nerve from the second toe. I was on a walker for a while and it did not seem to get any better. Finally, I figured it out. The pain was coming from the ball of my foot and shooting up into the third and fourth toe. Now he says he should have removed those nerves too? I want to beat my head on a rock! It is hurting very badly right now. It has nothing to do my shoes. I buy very wide shoes, I have had every kind of orthodic for ten years. I bought three pairs of Merrill's the other day just because they were extra wide and had lots of padding and air in them. The left side of my foot is going numb. I do not want to have another surgery as Iam just getting over this one, but I am hurting very badly as I am writing this and I can't hardly stand it. Please advise just for me. Thank you Fran
