I have had pain in the balls of my feet, feels like lumps. Also my toes are numb alot of the time. It's worse when I have been off my feet, first thing in the morning my feet feel like they have been beaten on the bottom. What could be the cause?

Pain to the ball of the foot or forefoot pain can be caused by many ailments. ie arthritis, mechanical injury, metatarsalgia due to improper foot mechanics. I would see a podiatrist and have your foot and gait evaluated.

Do you also get pain to the arch and heel of your foot? The symptoms of the pain being worse in the morning or after periods of rest is known as post-static dyskinesia and is often assoicatied with heel or arch pain. The previous response is correct that ball of the foot pain should be addressed by a podiatrist to determin if there are arthritic conditions associated.
