Pain to the ball of the foot or forefoot pain can be caused by many ailments. ie arthritis, mechanical injury, metatarsalgia due to improper foot mechanics. I would see a podiatrist and have your foot and gait evaluated.

Do you also get pain to the arch and heel of your foot? The symptoms of the pain being worse in the morning or after periods of rest is known as post-static dyskinesia and is often assoicatied with heel or arch pain. The previous response is correct that ball of the foot pain should be addressed by a podiatrist to determin if there are arthritic conditions associated. Please feel free to contact us again if have any other questions.
