I had bunionette surgery w/associated corn removed from fifth toe a few months ago. Now, the fifth toe is lifting above the fourth and in fact does not rest on floor surface at all. sad.gif Will the toe eventually go down and rest in a normal position and/or is there anything I can do to encourage it to stay down, i.e. tape? I am really worried that this will be permanent.
DOCTOR DNK
Yes, this could be a permanent condition if you do not address it now. This is a common occurence after surgery. It can occur from the surgery, rehab or the bandaging technique. You should make an appointment with your surgeon to see if taping/splinting will place the toe in the corrected position. Please contact us again if you have any additional questions or comments.
