I am a 33 yr. old TX Navy Veteran; my enlistment was cut short due to medical problems with my right foot. After my discharge in Oct. of 2002, I started treating with the VA and have had no real progress.

I scheduled an appointment with a podiatrist last Feb. 04 and have to wait until Oct. 04.

I 've had x-rays, cat scans of lower legs, a nerve test, and physical therapy but to no avail. My pain management includes orthotics, stretching exercises, Ibuprofen, Tramadol (Ultram), Naproxen (200 & 500mg), Panlor & Vicodin for the severe pain days, ice packs, a tenz unit, and analgesic cream. I suffer from pain underfoot and occassionally pain on the outside of my right lower knee. I was diagnosed with plantar fasciitis in the right footlast X-mas. Now, I feel pain at the ball of my foot; it feels swollen and numb to the touch and I feel like I'm walking on small rocks. I do switch occasionally from tennis shoes with orthotics to leather sandals that have a cork-like bottom. I lucked-out and have an MRI scheduled for this coming Monday. It really hurts to walk; sometimes every step. I use my cane sometimes and try not to walk barefoot. I also drink alot of milk and try to take vitamins about 3x week. I'm worried that the longer I wait to see the Foot DR. that my condition will worsen. Might I have other problems aside from the plantar fasciitis?

Do shots really work?
