There is good news and there is bad news...the bone heel spurs show up on exray...the Plantar Facitis does not..muscles and tendons have to be measured by sound waves or magnetic resonance.....
The pain began over one and half year for me, in the center of the heel but both feet would stay swollen all the time and ache..I consulted four doctors and got four diagnosis...the chiropractor felt my foot and said I had Plantar Facitiis. As soon as I got home, I searched on the net for the condition and came up with a three page including photos....
The tendons, which looks to be connected to the Achilles goes across the palm of the foot connected at the pad of the toes thru the arch and connect to the heel...thru years of abuse, the tendons began to draw and the fat pad flattened. Yes the final pain is unbearable...I let mine go as I could not get a positive diagnosis so I carried the print out to the Podiatrist..he said that looked like it and what did I want ?? I chose the surgery. He performed arthroscopy by inserting an instrument into either side of the heel and severing some of the tendons, but not the right ones for me. That was in January and I am still in pain but not on the center bottom of the heel.
The condition has shifted my gait to the side of my foot as the surgery left me flat footed with no arch support which is worse than anything.....I try 2 of the 4x6 guaze pads in the arch and tape it around my foot.
Through it all, I have been diagnosed with poor blood flow in the lower limbs causing me to wear gradient hose, my left hip is out of alignment, my blood pressure has gone up 40 points which will put me on medication.
So, when you all see the Podiatrist for this surgery ...tell him my story and then tell him this:::::My Podiatrist admitted he did not make the incision at the stress point where it needed most..meaning he did not cut the correct tendon....
I wish you all well and happy feet....
