Full Version: Bump on the ball of my foot

I work as a cook and am on my feet for long periods of time. I wore a different pair of sneakers last week and after a couple of days I started feeling a bump pressing on the middle of the ball of my left foot. I thought it was a stone in the bottom of my shoe or something in the shoe, but I found nothing. It didn't necessarily hurt but was just uncomfortable. I didn't feel the bump when I wasn't wearing the sneakers so I just thought it had something to do with them. I stopped wearing them over the weekend. I tried wearing them yesterday and I felt the bump again and it went numb there along with the toes in front of it. I immediately took the shoes off and haven't worn them since but now I can feel the bump all the time. I have no idea what this is or what I can do, if anything, to get rid of this bump.

It is quite possible that there is something in the shoe that is irritating your foot. Either that or the mechanics of the shoe put a stress on your foot which makes it uncomfortable. If the pain only occurs with the new shoes, then stop wearing them. It is as simple as that or you will need to find an arch support or cushion to help. However, the insoles may simply crowd the shoe and make things worse.
