Hello,

Boy, I'm racking up the foot ailments here with my flat feet.

I'm having chronic inflammation in the sinus tarsi area of rt foot. I do wear orthotics, which my podiatrist has now determined need to be recast every year. I've received my 2nd cortisone/lidocaine injection in the foot, but this time the pain is much more stubborn about going away.

My doc says, "you need to find running shoes that are cut lower on the top right, keep looking, they do exist". That is the area of nerve irritation, which then leads to the pain, since the shoe rubs me there. I'm going to try a local special shoe shop here in central NJ.

Can anyone recommend a running shoe that might be cut lower on top? Most shoes come up pretty high. My podiatrist has recommended the Nike Women's Multi-court, since it's got more cushioning up top, so i'll try that one, too.

Has anyone else here had this problem? Of course, I would not consider surgery until I've absolutely tried everything else. Any other helpful hints would be most welcome!

If your foot is collapsing and over pronating to the point that your foot rubs the shoe has your podiatrist rule out UCBL( It's foot orthosis that controls the mid foot and hind foot by wrapping up the sides of the foot.)

Be fore doing surgery to the foot do surgery to the shoe. Your going to replace the shoe anyway then cut the offending part out of the shoe. Also you could have a custom reinforced counter added to the shoe.

Some people bone structure does not match the shoes design such as having a low maleolis (ankle bone) usually the lateral maleolis that rubs the shoe mark the shoe a quarter around the bone with a marker then with sharp utility knife (and with the shoe off your foot) cut the shoe then use something like moleskin or tape to repair the edge or tape. Also you could take the shoe to someone who who will change the shoe like a shoe repairman or a Pedorthist.

Hope this helps
