I am not sure what in the world is going on, but over the past two years my heels have been cracking. They become extremely dried out, my wife is complaining about my dry heels. She's bought me all sorts of creams to put on at night to wear with cotton socks. I even let her soak my feet in warm water a few times a week. What's happening to me? I know when you get older you face is supposed to wrinkle, but my feet????? Please help, I am starting to cut holes in my dress socks.

Silipos has some gel socks their are also stores the sell just heel treatment kits. Try an anti-fungal on your heels just in case.
I would recomend synthetic socks instead of cotton.
You now can get socks with silver in them and tat has been show to control bactera.
Hop this helps

Dear Bob
Dry, cracked heels are actually a very common complaint. In order to help alleviate your symptoms you may need to see your Podiatrist for an evaluation and possibly a prescription for a cream or ointment. I would recommend that you avoid long, hot showers and even hot soaks of the feet, because this usually causes the skin to become drier. I would recommend that you apply the cream or ointment right after the shower so that your skin will lock in the moisture.
Dry skin is also very common in the winter due to the heat from the radiators and heaters, so some may also recommend purchasing a humidifier. Dry skin may also result from certain medication or systemic disease like diabetes.

Thanks for the advice! I'll look into the silver socks, sounds interesting. A buddy of mine told me he read and article about a copper sock. Can you tell me a little more about that too? I failed to mention that this problem is worse during the winter months, the connection makes perfect sense. Thanks again.

Hi Bob,
Try Instant Pedicure. www.sweetspa.com. (I bought it at Eckerd. Don't know if CVS kept it when they bought them) Then follow with a good diabetic foot cream. I am a diabetic (60 years old) & since I have taken care of my feet with the diabetic cream my feet look & feel 15 years younger. Before I never HAD to take care of them.
Good Luck, Val

Dear Bob
Aetrex does carry a line of copper sole socks. Cupron is made from copper, and is not a surface treatment. The cupron is added to the master batch and extruded throughout the entire fiber. The cupron socks have been shown to be effective against preventing odor, burning, itching and offers antimicrobial properties.
