Every once in a while I get a sharp pain in the arch of my foot. Why is that?

Is their any consitance to your pain. Like fithing in the morning when get out bed? or Is it completely radomon?

Is the sharp pain for an instant then it's gone?

Are you wearing shoes at the time of the pain?

Random pain are are hard to figure out. First make sure your shoes are corrected . Massage and look at your foot to note if it feels (hot or cold spots, bumps) or looks different ( bumps, becoming flatter).

Dear Chenell77
The most common diagnosis associated with heel pain is usually plantar fasciitis, however the pain may also be due to tarsal tunnel syndrome, nerve entrapment, tendonitis, tight gastrocsoleous muscle, flat feet, or stress fracture...There is a laundry list of reasons you may be having heel pain, so I would recommend that you follow-up with your podiatrist for an evaluation and appropriate treatment plan.

I usually get the pain when wearing shoes with little support. I like to wear Nike Air Force Ones, which does have a horrible insole... as I type this I realize that Dr. Scholls could have probably helped. :/

I am also flat footed, when I was in high school I was told I needed custom orthotics but my mom didn't want to pay $400 for them. Can you blame her?

Thanks for your help with this!

Dear Chenell
I would recommend that you wear a pair of supportive shoes, you may also consider purchasing a pair of Aetrex orthotics for flat feet. Keep in mild that these orthotics also need to be broken in gradually, 2hours the first day, 4 hours the following day, then six hours the third day and all day there after. If you find that they are too uncomfortable, stop wearing them , and follow-up with a Podiatrist for an evaluation.
