I've been experiencing some very painful symptoms:
It began with small blisters between my toes. I now have a very large affected area on the instep and sole of my left foot. This area is cracked and red around the perimeter. I have been prescribed Nizoral, Diflucan, Oral Lamisil Tablets. All were unsuccessful. I use Zabsorb powder daily as well as applying Lamisil AT cream topically. Over the last 24 hrs, I have developed very "hard" blotches which are a dark brown or yellow color. Obviously, I am planning on re-visiting my doctor, but I am very frustrated with the lack of progress the prescriptions are having. What can I do in the mean time? Any information would be appreciated

The yellowing and browning are the different stages of fungus infection. I would suggest that you get regular pedicures at lest twice/month. You can also use tea tree oil to rub on the infected toe.

If you are planning on receiving regular pedicures....make sure that the tools the salon is using are sterilized.

Well please do not go to the nail salon for a pedicure. They are not licensed to prescribe any antifungal medications. It sounds as if you are suffering from a fungal infection which has now also developed some bacteria. My recommendation if it is between your toes is to discuss with your podiatrist about Loprox gel and/or erythromycin pledgets. They are both good for bacteria and the initial one is great for fungal infections. Severe case may take time. I am not sure as to the type of doctor you have been going to, but I recommend a podiatrist for this condition.
