Hi
I broke my right heel in a car accident in September. I then had surgery a week later and they put in 8 screws and a plate to hold it all together. They had me in a cast for 4 weeks but then took it off. the incision started to open and it started to bleed alittle so the doctor put me back in a cast and on antibiotics. Has this ever happened to anyone else? do youthink 4 weeks was not long enough? I am non weight bearing until at least January and have not done anything except lay here with my foot up.

The laying around part is driving me nuts. I am usually a person always on the go. In the last 6 weeks of laying around I started my own travel site www.exploring-the-amalfi-coast.com and my own silly foot
injury store www.cafepress.com/heels I have 5 graphics on tshirts mugs and magnets and stuff to make you smile. What does everyone else do to keep busy? How do you keep your spirits up? I find myself
getting more and more depressed.

Thanks and take care,
Lucy

Must have lost your yours in a wave of spam.

Bone needs about 6-8 weeks to heal by them selves with plates are screws, I am not sure about the affect.

If your out of a cast need to keep the ankle mobile with your big toe trace the alphabet in large as possible letters in the air. Stretch your calf by with your knee strait lift your ball of your foot towards your nose as far as possible hold for 30-40 seconds. Only do these this with in your comfort range a little discomfort okay pain is not.

Your skin should have closed by now.

Is their an infection going on.

If so have you seen a wound care specialist?

Hope this helps
