i am new to this site!! 42yrs young and severe OA in both big toes-cervical neck-fingers-rt hip and still trying to smile lol.
have had previous cheilektomy on rt foot which was not very successful 12 months ago and so had a fusion with pins-screws 8 wks ago!! also had a cheilektomy on left foot at same time. to be blunt its painful right now!! the fusion is the worse and to be fair the only time i have no swelling is 1st thing in the morning when i first awake!! i lift the covers from my foot and it looks almost human ( although smaller than before and strange almost like its not mine lol) anyway it looks okish then i stand to go down stairs and hey-presto its swollen and continues to be that way throughout the day, Just gets more and more painful as the day progresses, i have seen my surgen at least 3 times since surgery ( a long story lol) and each time he says the swelling is due to being "on my feet too much!!! how can they say that when its the minute my foot touches the floor bang its up like a balloon!! i am at the end of my tether now and to make matters even worse i cannot fit into any of my shoes!!! had to get a size bigger trainer which hurt after a while and so i am rather regretting the whole process now!!
i feel at 42 years i should be enjoying life and instead i am moping round like an old woman feeling sorry for myself!!
i dont think my foot will recover from the swelling and am wondering if its my body trying to refuse the pins ect!!! has anyone hd an unsuccessful fusion!! i still feel arthritic pain????
