My mother is 75 yrs old...has a terrible pain on her right foot on the right top side...hurts to touch...can't put any pressure on it...so when it's bad, walking is out of the question. She has congestive heart failure and she says it hurts worse when they are not swollen with fluid. I've looked through all the topics in the foot pain center but nothing seems to fit the way she describes the pain...I guess our next step is to see a Podiatrist...does anyone have any ideas? Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Hello Steffi,
I would say you should go see a podiatrist, Those are the kinds of problems you can't possibly diagnose without an exam. They'll probably want an MRI, or SOME kind of scan. IF you are uncomfortable with that, here is a link for you to check out, see if it helps any. Good Luck! blink.gif

Thank you for your quick response...I actually did some surfing and, in thinking it was gout related, found that diuretics can cause this kind of pain and tenderness...she takes three different forms a day...so I'm thinking this may be our problem. I have made a podiatrist appt for this week and will see what he says....many thanks again for the link...

Take care,
Steffi

Dear Steffi
I agree, I would also recommend that you bring your mother to see a podiatrist for an evaluation.

Good-luck and thank-you for contacting foot.com
