I am not sure how to explain this. I have experienced a variety of foot ailments over the years, but this one stumps me and general praticioners. My pain is on top of the foot, "at the downward curve from the ankle". It presents itself after extended time at activities requiring standing for a length of time. I am able to normally walk 4-5 miles per day 4-6 days weekly, but general activity keeping me on my feet for several hours a day really presents a problem. Just this last weekend, I was able to eliminate some of the pain by not lacing my shoes so high and not so tight, even though they were only low rise tennis shoes. I am afraid that I do not know and have not found a proper schematic of the foot to tell me the area of effect and only can surmise that it is a tendon or similiar problem. I would appreciate any help one may be able to offer. Thanks

It is quite possible that you could be suffering from a tendinitis. This could be resulting from overuse, such as your intensive walking regimen. The first thing you may need to do is alter your walking regimen, by decreasing the number of days and the miles. If you do indeed have a tendinitis then the key to healing is rest. Also, how long are you stretching before and after exercise? This can affect the foot. As well as the length of time that you have been using the same pair of shoes for exercising. It is also possible that you could have a partial tendon tear so you need to take it easy and seek a podiatrist for evaluation. You may need an exam like and MRI to determine the status of your ligaments and tendons.
