I have this pain on the side of the ball of my right foot. Whenever I hit it or it rubs against my shoes I get a sharp pain. It is not constant. I believe that the cause is a nerve. Could you let me know what I should do?
Thank you.

If the pain is each time that your shoe rubs against it then you are probably dealing with a bursitis. Also, you probably need to be wearing wider shoes to lessen the irritation that you are having. I recommend that you make an appointment with your podiatrist for a thorough evaluation and treatment. You need to make sure that it is simply inflammation of a bursa sac (bursitis) and have a fracture or nerve entrapment ruled out.
