Full Version: plantar fascitis

My husband was diagnosed with plantar fascitis, his podiatrist does not perform any type of shock wave therapy.
He has tried inserts, and stretching exercises but to no avail. I just wanted to get some response from the example: Dornier's Epos Ultra.
Does it work? How long does it last if it does?
He is flat footed and so are my 3 boys and I hope this doesn't happen to them either.

Thank you in advance for your advice.

Plantar fasciitis is a bothersome foot complaint. You mentioned that your husband does his stretching exercises and uses insoles. The literature has shown that the combination has proved successful for many people. The shock wave therapy is fairly new and so there are still pros and cons for its use. I have not personally used it in my patients, but know of colleagues who find it to be very successful. However, I would first find out if your husband's podiatrist performs this treatment. But, more importantly you want to find out if your insurance provider covers this service and if not what would your out of pocket expenses be for the procedure.
